Child & Adolescent Individual Counseling
Child & Adolescent Individual Counseling
50 minute individual counseling sessions for children and adolescents can be focused on a variety of topics including behavioral, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and more.
I understand the unique circumstances of each individual and work collaboratively with my clients to find the appropriate intervention. From art and play therapy techniques, to mindfulness and cognitive behavioral interventions, my goal is to supply tools and develop coping skills for each client so that they can take those tools and apply them to their lives outside of the sessions.
Adult counseling
Individual and couples work can be a wonderful, courageous step towards finding yourself. Perhaps you are seeking to address challenges from your past, dynamics in your current life, including anxiety, depression, PTSD and more. Adult counseling can offer a space for you to find the path towards your fulfilled future. Treatment and transformation modalities include CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems.
Family Therapy
Parent Counseling
If you feel there has been a lack of harmony and communication at home, family counseling may be a resource for you. Family counseling can allow everyone’s perspectives to be seen and heard, it can pave the way for shifting in communication styles, and it can be a way to address behavioral and emotional difficulties within the family dynamic.
After several years in practice, one thing that has been clear is that working with parents is far more impactful than just working with a child alone. Parents are, after all, with their kids far more than I am! Research has shown that parent counseling or coaching can lead to actual healing and change for family systems, and so I strongly encourage this as part of treatment for children. In some situations this may not be possible, if there is custody issues, or if the child is at an age where they can deny parent privileges in therapy (age of consent for therapy is 12 and up in the state of Colorado).
Parent counseling may look like one session per month in which I help you as the parent better understand the messages behind behaviors, and help you find ways to respond. Validation is a huge part of healing for everyone; my goal in parent counseling is to validate your experiences, but also help you get better at validating your children’s so that connection and love can grow.
